Andrew Clunie, Senior Project Leader, Christchurch
Our expanding team is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer with 6+ years’ post-graduate experience to work on a variety of high-quality and challenging projects across New Zealand. Our current blend of projects includes a mixture of high-end residential and commercial building design and detailed seismic assessments of heritage structures.
Qualifications and Experience
- A BE in civil engineering (or equivalent by Washington Accord)
- 6+ years’ experience working for a reputable structural engineering consultancy
- Close to, or recently chartered (CPEng)
- Valid NZ drivers licence
Core Duties
- Preparation of sketches, calculations and reports to ensure the successful delivery of projects.
- Carry out site inspections to ensure construction work is being carried out to an acceptable standard.
- Ability and experience in conceiving and portraying structural concept schemes.
- Carry out reviews to ensure designs are safe and achieve the architectural vision of the project.
- Mentoring and training of less senior engineers to aid their development and progression.
- Fulfil Project Leader role by charting the course of projects from inception to completion.
- Strict adherence to the Company Operations Manual to ensure consistency in project delivery.
- Regular communication and coordination with project architects and other building industry professionals.
Technical Skills
- Use analytical software effectively and interpret the outputs concisely.
- Good working knowledge of NZ Standards.
- Experienced in the design of all principal construction materials (concrete, masonry, steel and timber).
Personal Skills and Interests
- Able to prioritise workload, juggle a variety of tasks at once, and work effectively within a team.
- Great budget awareness and management, and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- A flexible, positive approach and the ability to work as part of a team in a busy, creative atmosphere.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with people at all levels.
- Can do attitude with a drive for success.
- A keen interest in architecture and design.
- Good communication skills and a collaborative approach.
